WHAT DREW YOU TO KATONAH YOGA?

How different it felt in my body. The practice not only showed me how to use my physical body, but what was happening inside of it. It gave me tools that I could use to map out my interior without understanding anatomy. The practice revealed to me how my physical body mirrored what was going on in my mind and in my life and I started to learn more about myself.

HOW HAS KATONAH CHANGED YOUR PRACTICE & TEACHING?

Teaching this material has really helped me to find my voice. My ideas about teaching and practicing yoga completely shifted, since this practice is so much less about the performance of practicing and teaching and so much more about collaboration and learning from those around you. It offered me a container in which to develop my teaching and practice in a way I never thought possible.

HOW HAVE YOU SEEN KATONAH CHANGE STUDENTS?

I have seen peoples lives change, watching the physiology of the practice shift someone’s psychology is a magical thing. I’ve witnessed two types of people, those who need more structure in their lives and those who are scared to step out into the world, both types I’ve seen benefit tremendously from this practice. Those who need more structure, I’ve watched get oriented and find their stability. Those who need to jump out, I’ve watched be able to take a risk and change their lives in incredible ways.

Take the deep dive, explore your interior, be curious and investigate where you’re not going. Do the work, keep showing up and make the effort, even if it’s uncomfortable, because you will gain insight from it.
