Longevity is the effort to sustain ourselves for a long life. Self responsibility and personal rituals are the way forward. There are myriad practices that will support well-being, a calm nervous system, brain health and a healthy body. Breath techniques, physical practices, how we make contact personally and communally, how we articulate ourselves and self reflection are the main ingredients for a quality of life worth living.
All spiritual traditions and most religious practices consider the individual as a microcosm of the universe. Not so much in the sense that we are God or perfection, but that our lives represent a spiral of contracting and expanding energies, replete with energy centers (chakras or glands), as a grand conduit between heaven and earth. These centers can be understood as the matrix of our physical health and well being: our glandular life, our hormones and other secretions, giving rise to our more, implicit mystical well being.
In this training we will explore breath techniques and physical practices that engender longevity. We will investigate how to improve the health of our glands and discuss longevity itself, longevity of sustaining a pose, a breath, a practice, a life.
