Spring is a time of rebirth and new beginnings, signified by sprouting upward, growing outward and moving forward. Shifting out of the dormant season of winter and into the dynamic season of spring, we begin our journey from the yin part of the year to the yang part of the year. As the energy becomes more active and we, along with nature, start to build momentum, the time is ripe for creative pursuits and participatory endeavors.

Join us this spring for an exploration of practices and techniques to support our vital force through the seasonal change. The health and potency of our physicality and neurology is paramount as we prepare ourselves to start a new cycle with determination, focus and power.

SPRING RISING (Thursday April 4th)
with
Abbie Galvin

Spring advocates for participation with others, starting new ventures and taking risks. In this session we will explore the nature of creativity, how to build its potency and what obstacles we face in our personal endeavors. Come prepared to share your "state of play," a new project you are starting or a piece of yourself you'd like to develop. We will explore a template, which we can imaginatively embody for a seasonal overview.

SPRING AWAKENING (Thursday April 11th)
with
Cari Friedman

Spring prompts us to emerge from the soil that we cultivated within the depths of the contemplative and restorative season of winter. From that fertile ground, we rise, process and grow. In this session we will move through a quintessential spring backbend practice, where the gifts of winter meet the revelations of spring, awakening to great nature and its bountiful offerings.

THE SPRING ROUTINE (Thursday April 18th)
with
Chris Chen

Spring is the season of initiation and the energetics of initiation require much force and effort. With more force available to us, without proper preparation, we are more likely to damage the connection points around us. In this session we will learn three qigong practices to generate a vital and sustainable transit through the spring season, in order to unblock depressed energy, preserve body tissue, strengthen bones and charge the psyche.

A BREATH OF FRESH AIR (Thursday April 25th)
with Rose Lamont

During the insular season of winter the lungs can become stagnant, damp and stuffy. The springtime gives us the perfect opportunity to counterbalance winter's effects, opening up our windows to let the fresh air in. In this session we will harness the energy of spring, working through a series of heating kriyas and clarifying pranayamas in order to refresh and energize the lung tissue, creating a sense of internal brightness in the mind-body schema.

SPRING LIVER FUNCTION (Thursday May 2nd)
with
Ty Watson

The liver is the organ associated with the season of spring and can be thought of as a metaphor for that part of us that is regenerative. The liver is practical, focused and busy, embodying the yang energy of doing, with the sheer force of its determination and will power. In this session we will explore the functions of the liver both mechanically and esoterically, offering a broad view of how this powerful organ supports our well being with its competence and vision.

SPRING CLEANING (Thursday May 9th)
with
Danielle Rosati

Even if we live and eat well, we all need techniques of consciously attending to our physicality. Detoxing is a way to clean and refresh our personal abode. In this session we will cover easy ways to “clean up” our habits and lives after winter’s hibernation; exploring nutrition, managing blood sugar, cleaning up self care products, quality water and hydration, oral hygiene and various detox techniques such as coffee enemas.

SPRING HERBS (Thursday May 16th)
with
Linsey Boisvert

In the spring, as nature moves from yin to yang, the wild weeds sprout, sharing the medicine of the season. In this session we will weave together the wisdom of western herbal medicine with traditional Chinese medicine to explore the energy of spring and how plants can help us stay in tune with the seasons; diving into the therapeutics of a few herbs, making medicinal preparations and discovering how to integrate seasonal herbs into our lives and kitchens.

SPRING WARRIORS (Thursday May 23rd)
with
Ty Watson

Spring is the first rise of each year as the sprout of yang that begins to ascend from the very depths of winter takes on the tremendous effort of heating things up and churning the yin waters so that they might give us the swelling and rise of a wave. Similarly, a spring warrior practice is about riding the ascension of that wave: a true hero's journey of setting sail, traversing territory and orienting ourselves well to catch the joy of our summer.

FROM SPRING TO SUMMER (Thursday May 30th)
with
Linda Yung

We can live harmoniously in the body by weaving together what nature generously provides with time proven techniques to optimize health and energy levels. In this session, we will explore seasonal techniques to synchronize our inner and outer worlds, moving through the elements of wood, earth and fire with the exploration of calendars, nutrition, somatic and qigong breath practices for transitioning between spring and summer.

RECLAIMING PERSONAL POWER (Thursday June 6th)
with
Ally Bogard

Spring is a perfect time to immerse ourselves in the discussion and meditation of what it means to gather our power and expand it. We will work to free it from obsession over past choices and places we cannot control, grounding in a clearer understanding that there is nothing outside of the self that can give us personal power. This session will stretch between the practical and the spiritual, offering teachings to understand and respect our own power in a deeper way.

SPRING RECONNECTION (Thursday June 13th)
with
Elena Brower

Spring offers us the opportunity to begin again and in this new beginning the chance to reconnect back to our most essential essence. In this session we will move through a comprehensive asana practice as well as a brief writing exploration; supporting a vital reconnection to our heart's inherent nature. Expect a full-body practice with focus on core, including meditation, ending with a short writing practice to welcome in the energy of the season.

CONJURING PERSONAL IMAGERY (Thursday June 20th)
with
Jason Bacasa

Spring is all about creativity and piquing our imagination to new ways of thinking and perceiving. Through an immersive meditation, we will travel the body, conjuring personal imagery from the unconscious as a means to map ourselves and bring more dimension to our lives. Our imaginations will guide us through the body as a house, using the metaphor of the magic square to track neurology and cover terrain we might not otherwise be able to access.

SPRING HOME PRACTICE (Thursday June 27th)
with
Abbie Galvin

A Spring home practice takes us from winter's depths, to the sprouting energy of new beginnings. Gentle backbends to build volume, opening windows to let in more air and changing angles to help us navigate the winds of change. As a home practice is potentiating, it holds the character of exploring our interior mind field. No matter the season, the goal of any home practice is to calm the nervous system and soothe the soul in order to stay healthy and find our joy.
