BREATHWORK IMMERSION

Thursdays in September, October, November, December (2-4pm EST)
Price: $450 full program ($35 per session)
Early Bird Price: $350 thru 8/24

There is a union that takes place between the mind and the body that can only happen with the breath. This union fortifies our power physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. The length, pace and depth of the breath determines the quality of our lives. Consider the breath as fulfillment. How we fill ourselves up with desires, inspiration and more life. The breath leads us in to our interior where we can access our third nature, the liminal space between the conscious and unconscious. When we breathe consciously, using technique over feeling, attention over impulsivity, we can begin to alter the state of our being.

Join us this fall to explore a variety of conscious breath techniques that support us in training our imagination to create a matrix of purposeful living, clarity of thinking and greater internal peace.

THE METAPHOR OF THE BREATH (Thursday September 11th)
with
Abbie Galvin

The way we breathe is the way we live. While this is metaphorical, it is also practical, therefore, in the most hopeful way, we can change it, amend it, improve it and discover ways to use it for our physical health and emotional well being. In this session we explore the breath as a gateway into our imagination and experience how we can use it to expand, inform and inspire ourselves, using the traditional Katonah metaphors.

THE BREATH MAPS (Thursday September 18th)
with
Ty Watson

Metaphor is our most potent tool for engaging the mind and elevating our personal frame of reference into something more universal, but it also becomes how we direct our breath towards unchartered territory, integrating pieces of ourselves that we didn’t have or weren’t aware of. In this session we explore map, metaphor, narrative, story, and theoretical threads as a means to keep the currency of our attention employed, engaged and elevated.

TAOIST BREATHWORK (Thursday September 25th)
with Chelsea Delle Palme

The body is one holistic organism pulsing with many rhythms and melodies. Through focused practice we can harmonize these, at times cacophonous, tempos within. The breath is the most potent and effective tool with which to cultivate this experience and its effects… radiant health, peace of mind, and a more well tuned and graceful embodiment. In this session we explore Taoist breath practices to realize this internal harmony arriving at a subtle but active meditation.

CONSTRUCTING THE CONTAINER (Thursday October 2nd)
with
Alex Sharry

Caterpillars are born with imaginal cells that lay dormant and activate only during the chrysalis phase of metamorphosis, breaking down the body and orchestrating the construction of a butterfly. Without the container of the cocoon to house the breakdown, the butterfly would never be born. Transformational breathwork requires the same, an asana practice that functions as a container to house the shift in chemistry that accompanies this alchemical metamorphosis.

THE MAGIC SQUARE (Thursday October 9th)
with
Abbie Galvin

The magic square is a map of space, the body. If we consider the body as a house, the magic square is its blue print. The body is our home, the breath travels its territory, while the mind animates it towards its destiny. In this session we explore the magic square as a route, moving the breath through the territory of this house in order to open portals of personal potential and access the unique narratives that define the trajectory of our lives.

THE WRAPS FOR RAPTURE (Thursday October 16th)
with
Ty Watson

Using the idea of polarity, we can build a personal sphere, by finding ourselves inside the routes, routines, and rituals of great nature, so that we may become the mediator that establishes a trinity. In this session we employ the polarities of the magic square known as the wraps for rapture, to explore our spherical nature, putting ourselves in the middle of each polarity in order to birth the creation of trinity.

THE BREATH AS A METRONOME (Thursday October 23rd)
with
Alex Scerri

The mind can go anywhere. It can travel time, space, dimension and imagination. The body is always in the moment. By virtue of putting the mind in the body we can inspire ourselves to be present, using the breath as a conduit to synchronize the mind and body. Finding the breath as a metronome or timing device, in a physical practice, is an excellent tool to locate the mind within the body and as such, the wu wei or effortlessly effort… the grace of the moment.

BRAIN CHEMISTRY (Thursday October 30th)
with
Chase Connolly

Breath control is one of the earliest recorded forms of yogic practice. In this session we explore techniques of Nadi Shodhana (Alternate Nostril Breathing) decoding the poetic language within the Hatha Yoga texts, to integrate them into a daily practice and access their imaginative power. This ancient practice can support us in shifting brain chemistry, promoting nervous system balance and enhancing cognitive function.

Dages Juvelier Keates

Organized space and time are the brick and mortar of building a practice, and breath is the portal to presence.

KUNDALINI BREATHWORK (Thursday November 13th)
with
Desiree Pais

Prana is the vitality, the spark, the twinkle in the eye. It comes through the breath but it is not just the breath. It animates every single thing in life. In this session we unlock the pranic currents through various Kundalini breathwork and meditation techniques to consciously work with this pranic reservoir for energy, vitality and resilience, building balance within the mind body vessel.

SOMATIC BREATHWORK (Thursday November 20th)
with
Andrea Mitchell

The act of breathing intentionally can bring about deeper states of healing and self awareness. Rooted in traditions like Reichian Breathwork, Bioenergetics, Holotropic Breathwork and Rebirthing, somatic breathwork uses active, rhythmic breathing to release emotional tension, access unconscious patterns and awaken the body’s innate wisdom, to bridge the dense protective nature of the body with higher awareness for deep nervous system regulation.

SUBTLE ENERGY BODY (Thursday December 4th)
with
Ally Bogard

As one learns to use the breath as a means to access their internal state it becomes a gateway to clarity, insight and stillness; anchoring awareness and offering a rhythm that can regulate the nervous system, gently drawing us out of thought loops and into embodied presence. As a portal to the subtle body, in this session we explore how breath is fundamental to meditation as the most immediate and accessible tool to bring the mind into the present moment.

LUNG CAPACITY (Thursday December 11th)
with
Ty Watson

Making our breath more conscious gives us a portal into the way we channel our time and allows us to begin using our own breath to find inspiration and intellect. In the effort of galvanizing our mind, making ourselves more resilient to life's pressures and extending the moment by amplifying our personal volume, in this session we explore various breath work practices that increase our lung capacity, opening up a portal to greater fulfillment.

THE BREATH IN FORM (Thursday December 18th)
with
Abbie Galvin

Filling the body with breath in a pose elevates its form and function. When forms are refined, the breath can pressurize them for more volume and articulation. Poses with good technique can be liberated, moved and expanded by the breath. In this session we travel the territory of the asanas, infusing each form with conscious breath to integrate the mind and the body so that the nervous system may find homeostasis, stability and joy.
